A stunningly powerful take on the real-life story of Aron Ralston who bravely deals with one terrifying option to try to get out of his awful situation.
Director Danny “Slumdog Millionaire” Boyle expands the claustrophobic story by featuring Aron’s video dairy and recollections of friends and family, though the film fills with dread as he begins to realise he has only one option when it comes to a possible escape... and boy, are those moments as gut-wrenching as any horror film.
The real story is well known – but I won’t spoil it for those unaware of what Ralston has to do.
Despite the harrowing elements, there are moments of surreal humour and excitement set against the harsh, unforgiving Utah landscape.
